Changing the Subject:

to beadwork......here's Lindsey Obermeyer

How's this glass prairie for a floral reference?

Individual pictures of all these beaded floral beauties can be found in A Glass Prairie Gallery

Lindsey says her mission is to simply add a bit of colorful whimsey to a rather serious, grey world.

and here is Don't Leave from  Woman's Work Gallery.

What a hoot!

Her galleries are chock full of  embroidery, knit, crochet, beadwork and more.  Lindsey Obermeyer Studio....have a nice visit.

(Quilt) tale with a happy ending:

Compliments of Kathy's Fancy Stitching:  that would be Kathy Ellzey formerly from Crossett (Arkansas), now happily long-arm quilting in Robeline (Louisiana).   A few days ago....well, actually, over the course of a couple of weeks, Kathy ate the elephant!  You know how the story goes, but she tells her version of it better than I can.

Sunday Pillow:

I've always heard of Sunday houses....you know,  when the rich land barons own huge spreads out in the country.....but the family wants to come into town for the weekend and for church on Sunday!  Well, they just acquired property in town.  So many rich folks had these little homes in town that were never used during the week that they became known as Sunday houses.

Well, when I saw these simple, yet stunning pillows, my first thought was that life doesn't have to be hard....nor does quilting, nor re-decorating the bed or sofa.  We work hard all week getting those large quilts finished, so relax, it's Sunday, and here's a Sunday pillow.  Direct from The Purl Bee
Molly's quilted throw pillows.

Braving the Elements....The Netherlands

Can Speelman Quilt Art

Seaside exhibit at Oosterschelde National Park in the Netherlands
photo by Dirkje van der Horst-Beetsma

An article in the latest issue of Quilting Arts Magazine....June/July 2012.....caught my eye.   A fiber art group - Windkracht 10 - English translation - Windforce 10 - in the Netherlands, braves the elements and sets up galleries outdoors.  To say the least, there are many challenges:  primary -  the scale of the work and construction techniques to withstand the elements.  Visit WINDKRACHT 10
to see more gallery pictures.

The bonus:  Exposing their work to a larger audience!
